JUNEAU — With just two days before the state legislative session starts, the Interior Delegation is stressing the need to take big steps to lower the cost of energy in the Fairbanks area.

Senators and representatives from both sides of the political spectrum see energy as the lead issue for this session and have found numerous places of agreement heading into the session.

The most substantial bill to be introduced is by Sen. Joe Thomas, which extends Cook Inlet tax credits to the Interior to promote the buildout of the infrastructure needed to make Fairbanks ready for a natural gas.
