We are cautiously optimistic after the Environmental Protection Agency’s announcement Thursday that it has approved an air permit for Shell Oil’s plan to drill exploratory wells in the Chukchi Sea.
The permit is the final bureaucratic hoop before Shell can begin drilling. An ongoing court case, however, still could prevent any drilling in the Chukchi this year.
