Ah, spring. That time of year in Alaska when the thoughts of business owners turn to that most cherished of blossoms — the tourist.
But the crop of visitors might not be as abundant again this coming season, due not only to a sour economy but also to some damage that Alaska voters inflicted upon the tourism industry in 2006 by approving an exorbitant head tax on cruise ship passengers.
