With gas selling for a song in the Lower 48 as new technology drives
increased production, the often-criticized large diameter gas line from the
North Slope to Canada and points south is on the back burner - at least for a
while.
Instead, the state wants to move gas by tankers to Asia - where
gas prices are soaring - and where it could face stiff competition from
Australia and China.
