Fiscal Policy: A turn to the left in French elections and the collapse of the Dutch government do not bode well for the future of the European Union. If the U.S. is smart, it will learn something from the EU's debacle.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy lost Sunday in the first round of elections to Socialist candidate Francois Hollande, as far-right candidate Marine Le Pen siphoned off 18% of the votes.
Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, Prime Minister Mark Rutte resigned and dissolved his government, as talks over EU austerity broke down.
