New rules; same old stall

Anchorage Daily Planet
Editorial

We are, and long have been, ardent supporters of the Alaska Public Offices Commission despite its appearance sometimes of favoring Democrats, but our hopes always have been for more efficiency, more information, from the agency - not less.

Legislators now are toying with the idea of making it more difficult for Alaskans to track money at election time. At its best, this is a lousy idea. The bill, which would ease APOC electronic reporting requirements for candidates, is close to passing both chambers of the Legislature.
