As the Legislature’s oil and gas consultant, Pedro van Meurs, was telling two
state Senate committees it would require industry investment of $7.5 billion a
year to put 1 million barrels of oil daily through the trans-Alaska pipeline, it
was interesting to take a look at what he said in 2007.
A Juneau Empire
article Oct. 19, 2007, by Pat Forgey, detailed an eight-hour meeting between
lawmakers and Van Meurs and another consultant on how to get the most from the
state's declining oil resources.
