Simple and clear: State's animal care review starts in the right direction

A recently launched review of animal care standards in Alaska is off to a rational start. State officials should resist any efforts to turn the review into an animal rights extravaganza.

The state veterinarian, housed in the Department of Environmental Conservation, wants to create more specific regulations reflecting Alaska’s animal care law. More specifics will help everyone understand when animal care does or does not comply with the law, a laudable goal.
