State needs to get off the dime on LNG, or lose out

Anchorage Daily News
By Paul Jenkins

Gov. Sean Parnell, it turns out, is not Sarah Palin. He is his own man -- or he is Wally Hickel, or maybe Bill Walker. Whoever he is, he is looking like a guy who maybe sees the handwriting on the gas line.

A longtime booster of the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act and its "licensee," TransCanada Corp, Parnell nowadays is telling the Alaska Oil and Gas Association chilled North Slope gas should be shipped -- not through a large-diameter gas pipeline to Canada and points south -- but to tidewater. Notice he's not saying Valdez.
